Will ozone from pool water harm us?

People with chronic bronchitis wonder if the ozone in the pool will harm them. There, they sometimes disinfect water with ozone and boast about it as the advantage of a pool.

To begin with, water procedures with any disinfectants and even without them bring no benefit to the lungs. If there are problems with the respiratory system, then bathing is always a little harmful. But usually it is not so harmful as to deny yourself the pleasure of swimming.

Let's go further. Ozone has been used for disinfection of pool water not so long ago. Ozone is more effective than chlorine for water disinfection. But it has drawbacks. The fact is that ozone does not know how to stay in water like chlorine and continue to poison microbes there. When you notice the smell of bleach in the water, it’s rather good, because the residual chlorine continues to kill the infection in the water. Ozone doesn't work that way.

If the pool smells of ozone, then this is clearly a leak from the technological rooms. Because ozone is not emitted in a noticeable amount from water.

On the other hand, ozone can make some chemicals in the water that will float there, fly into the air and somehow affect you and me.

Chlorination of water has been used for a long time and nothing new is expected from this business. Ozonation of water is still not a well-studied process. No one knows for sure what exactly is there in this pool and how it affects you and me.

The funny thing is, most likely ozone in your pool is used together with chlorine. Because that's how public pools are supposed to be disinfected. There may be less chlorine, but it will still be there.

Briefly speaking

If there is a smell of ozone in the pool, then someone allows it to leak from the technical rooms.

Chlorine in such a pool will be less.

And ozone, and chlorine, and just the pool itself will only harm your bronchitis. But usually it is not very scary.
