Winter's Tale: all the main New Year's locations in Kiev

Ukraine is preparing to celebrate the new year with might and main. This Saturday, the main Christmas tree of the country will be lit on the Sofievskaya Square of the capital. In addition to this place, for the New Year's mood, you can go to three more main locations in Kiev. Each will amaze the people of Kiev and the guests of the capital with its special flavor, so you won't be bored on the New Year and Christmas holidays.

Sofievskaya square

The largest Christmas tree in the capital is traditionally installed on Sofievskaya Square. This year it will be decorated in red and gold colors. 20 thousand toys and kilometers of garlands have already been hung on the thirty-meter beauty. And they will light it on the eve of St. Nicholas Day - in the evening of December 18.

An unusual decoration will be hoisted on the top of the country's main Christmas tree: this year the globe and the Christmas star will shine over Kiev. This is no accident, because the theme of the festive location is a miracle night, marked by the birth of the baby Jesus. In this style, they decided to decorate the base of the Christmas tree: it looks like a nativity scene and is decorated with figures of the Virgin Mary, Joseph, the Magi, angels and pets.

Also, on the square near Sofia, a real fair town will be located: here you can have a snack, drink hot tea or mulled wine, buy souvenirs from Ukrainian masters. A small skating rink in the form of a tunnel will be flooded near the monument to Bogdan Khmelnitsky, and around the tree itself there will be photo zones and children's attractions. In addition, they promise to equip a warm recreation area - there it will be possible to warm up for both children and adults.

Kontraktova ploshcha

Another traditional New Year's location is on Kontraktova Square. It will open on December 19th. This year, they decided to decorate the Podil in a European style: it took 20 thousand lanterns and a lot of decor. A colossal fair with an area of ​​10 thousand square meters awaits Kiev residents and guests of the capital. There will be photo zones, food courts, souvenir houses, children's attractions and a gastronomic alley. It is here that he will locate his residence St Nicholas - so be sure to take your child to him on a holiday. But closer to Christmas and New Year, Santa Claus will open his office in Podil.

 Also in Podil, right next to the observation wheel, they promise to arrange a walking skating rink with a length of 200 meters. In the center of the skating rink there will be a stage with an orchestra, and on the sides there will be several gazebos for relaxation. You can have a snack without taking off your skates in a special cafe. So all skaters can already get ready for the festive “two hundred meters” race.

People's Friendship Arch

The third location will be located near the People's Friendship Arch. On December 19, a recreation area with a Christmas tree, music, delicious food, drinks and - attention! - heated tables. Here you can sit comfortably after walking along the pedestrian-bicycle bridge.

Also on the weekend near the People's Friendship Arch, the already traditional festival of skiers and snowboarders Snigfest is to take place. However, it is not yet clear how the snow problem will be solved. Most likely, it will be brought there on purpose: according to TSN, the Kiev authorities plan to order 16 snow machines for this purpose. Another option is to launch snow cannons. So on December 18-19, this location is worth visiting, if only to take some truly winter photos.

Shevchenko Park

The most "kidsfriendly" location in Kiev will open on Friday, December 17th. They will also install a New Year tree in Shevchenko Park, equip food courts with food and drinks, make a photo zone and an amusement area. In addition, it is here that the main residence of St. Nicholas in the capital will be located: to get to the saint and make your own cherished desire, children will need to go through the Alley of Love and the Alley of Good, as well as through the territory of his assistants, Nikolaevchikov. On weekends, animators will work at this location, and on December 19, on a holiday, a concert for children and adults will be organized here. In addition, the KGAA reported that it will be possible to receive gifts for children from low-income large families here.
