Immunologist Fyodor Lapiy, in an interview for Unisef medical examiner Yekaterina Bulavina, said when children from 5 years of age will be vaccinated against COVID-19 in Ukraine
In connection with this news, the question arose: when will mass vaccination of children from 5 to 11 years old against coronavirus be allowed in Ukraine? It was answered by the head of the National Technical Group of Experts on Immunoprophylaxis in an interview for UNICEF medical expert Yekaterina Bulavinova. Fyodor Lapiy.
According to the expert, the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine, which is now available in Ukraine, is not suitable for administering it to children of this age.
“Now we are diluting this vaccine, adding diluents and collecting 0.3 ml. If we talk about the so-called. a child's dose from 5 to 11 years old does not mean that we can take 0.1 ml and inject it intramuscularly. This means there must be a separate vaccine, a separate form, "- said Fyodor Lapiy.
According to the expert, the process of legalizing the "children's" vaccine against coronavirus in Ukraine "has begun or will begin soon."
"Most likely in January 2022 we will have it registered in Ukraine,"- Lapiy predicts.
Interestingly, the World Health Organization opposes the mass vaccination of children. According to WHO experts, first you need to vaccinate people at risk. Children don't belong to her. For the most part, they carry the coronavirus easily. True, as we already wrote, the Indian strain "Delta" often causes a life-threatening condition in children - multisystem inflammatory syndrome.
