Novelty 2021 Black Opium Extreme: warm, warming autumn coffee aroma

I liked the new flanker of the already legendary Black Opium Yves Saint Laurent the most. They put everything that I missed so much in the classic version. It turned out to be so viscous, semantic, warming that you begin to understand that autumn may not be so unpleasant. After all, it is in the cold and chilly weather that you so want to warm your soul and cheer yourself up. Perfumery is perfect for this.

I was waiting for the autumn cold to tell you about it, because it is ideal for the autumn-winter period.

I have a classic version of Black Opium from 2014, I don't use them so often now, but I just don't get a hand to sell. Because sometimes you just want them. Because I love him anyway, although I have many different scents. All the flankers somehow passed me by without touching the strings of my soul. And then it happened.

Black Opium Extreme 2021 and Black Opium 2014: let's see the pyramids

Novelty 2021 Black Opium Extreme: warm, warming autumn coffee aroma

Of course, the 2021 fragrance has the recognizable DNA of the classic version. Are they similar? Undoubtedly. Is there really a difference? There is. Let's see the pyramids. Black Opium Yves Saint Laurent:

Top notes: Pear, Pink Pepper and Orange Blossom; middle notes: Coffee, Jasmine, Bitter Almond and Licorice; base notes: Vanilla, Patchouli, Cedar and Cashmere wood.

I remember reading reviews on it at one time, and I was very attracted by the moment that the aroma is coffee. However, coffee was not enough for me. Of course, it is well cut and good, but it did not satisfy my thirst for coffee.

Now let's take a look at the pyramid of the new Black Opium Extreme:

Top notes: Coffee and Cocoa; middle notes: Jasmine Sambac and Orange Blossom; base notes: Bourbon vanilla and patchouli.

The pyramid is no longer so diverse, and already looking at it, one can imagine what a new flanker he is.

Black opium extreme

I love reading reviews on fragrances. Since I share them with the general public, I am always interested in how the same scent is perceived differently. More than once I met the opinion that this flanker and classic Opium are almost 100% similar. In this case, it is ideal to do a cross test - the difference is immediately visible. Although here it was visible to me from the first seconds, I am very familiar with the first scent.

The start is confidently coffee, and a little further cocoa breaks through. The aroma is still gourmand, intense, with a languid note. Sweet, but there is a little less sweetness on my nose, which I took with a bang. The coffee here is clearly stronger than in the classics. If I can barely catch it there, then here it sounds confident.

Then there is vanilla (not every perfume house has a note of vanilla, I like it, here it is cute), and orange blossom, and a light tart bitterness, which gives a pleasant piquancy.

In the base, the scent is more similar to the classics, but the difference remains. I put them on both wrists at the same time, I really like to compare perfumes in parallel wear. The durability of the classics is slightly higher, but in general, the Extreme is also good.

I really love walking in the autumn park, when there are yellow and red foliage around, which the wind drives along the asphalt. You walk, wrapped in a warm and soft stole, holding a glass of warming coffee in your hand. And it's so good in my soul. That's about the kind of atmosphere that Black Opium Extreme immerses me in.
