She turned out to be a resident of India - Yeramatti Mangayamma. She got married back in 1962 when she was 16 years old. But the couple couldn't conceive a child for decades. The woman was inspired to IVF by her neighbor, who had a baby "from a test tube." And Yeramatti decided to try her luck.
74-year-old woman managed to get pregnant with IVF on the first try
The woman's menopause began at the age of 40, so a donor egg was taken to "create" the child. But the sperm was used by her 82-year-old husband Raji. What a surprise it was for both the doctors and the couple themselves when the very first IVF attempt was successful. Throughout her pregnancy, Yeramatti was under the supervision of a doctor, and in April 2019, she gave birth by caesarean section to two healthy twin girls.
The woman admits that at first it was hard enough to take care of the little ones. But meditation and Raj's husband helped her cope with the difficulties. Sadly, in October 2021, he died of a heart attack at the age of 84. Yeramatti hopes that she will be able to live as long as possible in order to raise the girls. But she has already found a person who will deal with them after her death.
72-year-old mom needed three IVF procedures
This is not the first time in India that a woman has given birth after 70 years. In 2016, thanks to artificial insemination, a boy appeared at 72-year-old Jivunben Rabari. The woman underwent IVF procedure three times.
Before this incident, the Spaniard Maria del Carmen Busade de Lare was considered the oldest mother in the world. She gave birth to twins at 66.
