For the first time, the World Health Organization has listed the symptoms of postcoid syndrome. This bye-law is based on a WHO study of hundreds of people.
All over the world, rehabilitation centers have been opened for patients with postcoid syndrome. Health improvement programs have also appeared in Ukrainian sanatoriums. But only now, on October 7, the World Health Organization has given a clear official explanation of what symptoms are included in the post-like "bouquet" of health problems.
So, according to the WHO, for the postcoid syndrome, the following are characteristic:
- increased fatigue;
- dyspnea;
- cognitive impairment;
- cough;
- change in taste and smell;
- dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract (constipation, diarrhea);
- headache;
- pain in muscles, abdomen, chest;
- anxiety;
- depression;
- sleep disturbance;
- memory problems;
- changes in skin sensitivity.

These symptoms appear in 10-20% of those who have recovered and, as a rule, are observed within the first three months after the illness. Importantly, they cannot be explained by any other diagnoses. That is, a person, as they say, "out of the blue" has a stomach or head ache. At the same time, the severity of the disease does not affect the appearance of the postcoid syndrome. That is, it can be both for those who were seriously ill and for those who have suffered a mild coronavirus. Interestingly, "long covid" is more common in middle-aged women. How this is explained is still unknown.
These conclusions were based on a study of hundreds of people around the world, which was carried out by both WHO experts and scientists from other scientific organizations, for example, the University of Liverpool.
