Of course, a shirt front is an easy task, especially for a beginner. But there are two options for how to knit a baby shirt: with circular knitting needles with raglan lines (seamless knitting) or simple (you get two halves - the front and back of the product).

Which material should you choose?

Give preference to yarn with a natural composition. For example, wool with merino or alpaca fibers - it warms up and does not prick the skin. Options that include acrylic are also good. Important: there is no need to make a typewriter from 100% acrylic - it does not heat.

How to calculate?

It is important to understand that measurements must be taken for each specific child. After all, the head circumference (and this is convenience - how the product will be put on), as well as the coverage of the chest and the length of the product are different for everyone.

A simple way to calculate the number of loops is to attach any similar scarf to the child and stretch it slightly: mark the length of the head circumference, and then count how many loops are included in this value. This is a calculation, as they say, "by eye".

It is necessary to measure the circumference of the child's head (take the value from the table below). And knit a small sample. Stretch it a little and count how many loops are in five centimeters.

For a child with a head circumference of 50 cm, 70 loops are required.

1. Cast on the circular knitting needles and tie a 2 by 2 elastic (knit 2, purl 2).

3. Now divide the loops by 4. Half of this is for the back and the other two are for the hanger. On the hangers - 11 loops each, on the back and in front - 23 each.
