A large family is considered a family in which 3 or more children under 18 years old are brought up, and if they study, then up to 23 years old. But in order to obtain an official status and a certificate, in addition to the birth certificates of children, you need a certificate from the place of their registration (registration). It is important to take this into account before submitting documents so that later there are no hiccups.
Such a certificate is issued to parents (one for two) and separately to each child from a large family who has reached the age of 6 years.
What documents need to be submitted to get a certificate of a large family
A package of documents for obtaining a certificate of a large family, with which you apply to the department or committee for family and youth affairs at the place of registration (registration):
- application of the father or mother for the issuance of certificates;
- copies of birth certificates of children;
- a copy of the marriage certificate (except for a father or mother who are raising children on their own);
- copies of the pages of the passport of the father and mother with data on the surname, name, patronymic, date of issue and place of registration;
- a certificate of the composition of the family or a certificate from the place of registration of all family members;
- photographs (of parents and children who have turned 6 years old) 3x4 cm in size;
- a certificate from a general education, vocational, higher educational institution (for persons from 18 to 23 years old, if they are studying full-time);
- certificate of the structural unit, the executive body of the city council that in the place registration of the father or mother, no certificates were issued (in the case of registration of parents in different ways address).

What are the benefits of a certificate of a large family
They are reported directly on the cover of the certificate itself:
- 50% discount on the rent for the use of housing (rent) within the limits stipulated by the current legislation (21 sq. meter of the total area of housing for each family member who permanently resides in the dwelling (house), and an additional 10, 5 sq. meter per family);
- 50% discount on utility bills (gas, electricity and others services) and the cost of liquefied bottled gas for domestic needs within the limits determined by legislation. The area of housing, for which a discount is provided when calculating the heating payment, is 21 sq. meter of heated area for each family member who permanently lives in a residential building (house), and an additional 10.5 sq. meters per family;
- 50% discount on the cost of fuel, including liquid fuel, within the limits determined by the legislation, if the respective houses do not have central heating;
- The subscription fee for using an apartment telephone is set at 50 percent of the approved tariffs.
These benefits are provided provided that the size of the average monthly total family income per person for the previous six months does not exceed UAH 2,700. That is, if you and your husband earn more than UAH 13,500, then you are considered wealthy enough to pay for utilities, etc. at the full rate.

It is also not reported there that you can receive payments from the state for the third and each subsequent child under 6 years of age at UAH 1,700 per month. It doesn't happen automatically. You need to contact the social security office at the place of residence and submit a package of documents for receiving material assistance to large families:
- passport and identification code of one of the parents;
- passport of the second parent;
- birth certificates of children;
- certificates from the place of registration of all children;
- bank details for receiving social benefits, if you have not previously submitted them to receive other assistance from the state;
- certificate of parents with many children;
- certificate of a child from a large family.
From time to time, from the budget of some cities, funds are allocated for additional payments to large families and children brought up in them. For example, 2000 UAH for preparation for school.
