For two years my husband and I rented an apartment in a beautiful area, the location and layout were very successful, but the renovation was strange and specific. When we drove off with a sigh of relief, we realized how much all this was pressing.
And now I know exactly what mistakes I will not make when renovating my apartment.
Flight of fantasy or unrestrained creativity
Richard Bach once said, that each of us is given a block of marble and tools at birth to transform it into a statue. Some people carry this lump with them all their lives, never touching it. Some people quickly break it into small pieces. And some still manage to create a great masterpiece out of it!
Well, and from some it is better to hide the tools away, because in a burst of creativity they can do something that you can't rake later :)
What do you think, what kind of beauty is behind me?
At first, my husband and I thought that the hostess did not have enough paint to paint the wall in the color of greenery, but no, it was a waterfall. And this is not an accidental children's creativity, this is a conscious design decision. The owner is a gentleman, of course, but I don't understand such "aesthetics". It looks cheap, strange and not comfortable at all in such a room. You feel yourself in the Soviet canteen, where the waiters decorated the hall on their own for the summer season.
Colorful walls
I remember that before my parents didn’t glue the wallpaper behind the cabinets, it’s not clear, why should we waste wallpaper in vain? And when the cabinets were moved, the walls became multi-colored.
Then there was a shortage, they could be understood and so almost everyone did.
In our rented apartment, the walls in the living room were painted in stripes in different colors, the color was the same, but the shades were different. At first we also thought that where the color was different there was some kind of furniture, but then we saw a pattern and realized that this was also a design decision :)
In my apartment I will never make multi-colored walls, only monochromatic and light shades. You can always introduce color and brightness into the interior with the help of accessories: colored pillows, unusual figurines, stylish lamps, non-trivial curtains, finally, but the walls, in my opinion, should be neutral.
Red room
They joked that we are like Christian Gray and Anastacia Steele, and we have a red room. In fact, such active wallpaper on the walls is very pressing, you want light and air, but here it is red and twilight.
Tapestry
I don't like tapestry in the interior. Tapestry paintings, pillowcases with old-fashioned patterns, bedspreads with embossed flowers - this is the case when you wanted expensive and rich, but it turned out to be complete bad taste.
We had paintings, doors with lions, and bright yellow walls :)
Everyone, of course, has different preferences and what is cute to one, the other does not like it at all. It's good when you have your own home and you can do everything to your liking.
