Kyiv Day 2021: where to go with a child?

This year, the capital will celebrate its birthday under conditions of adaptive quarantine. This is better than a year ago (recall that in 2020, due to the pandemic, Kyiv Day was fully celebrated online). But the holiday will still be held with certain restrictions. Fewer events are planned than usual: the main locations for the celebration will be located on the Song Festival Grounds and under the People's Friendship Arch. The official program of the City Day celebration includes the opening of the film festival "Molodist", "Run under the chestnuts" (online and offline), two-day Kyiv Fan Fest, Capital Orienteering Cup, city kickboxing tournament and sailing regatta on the Kiev River train station. In addition, on weekends, Kiev residents are expected to fly in a hot air balloon, the Old Car Land festival, as well as several interesting programs from the capital's museums.

Kiev International Film Festival "Molodist"

This year the Kiev International Film Festival "Molodist" celebrates its 50th anniversary. The opening is scheduled for Saturday May 29th. The Kyiv City State Administration said that it will be held in the open-air format: more than 200 films will be shown to the people of Kiev and guests of the capital in the open air on large screens. True, the exact location of the festival's locations, the program and the cost of one-time views are not yet known. It is expected that the information will appear on the festival website closer to the holiday. So far, there you can buy certificates for unlimited viewing of films throughout the entire film festival. They cost from 500 UAH (for students and privileged categories of citizens) to 1500 UAH (for professional participants). Let's remind that two years ago the people of Kiev could buy a ticket for one session for 50-100 UAH.

The traditional annual "Chestnut Run" this year has returned to the streets of the city. The event program is very eventful and provides for several starts. There will be children's runs (for toddlers up to 2 years old in strollers with their parents, for children 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 years old with one of the adults, as well as independent runs for children 9-11 and 12-14 years old) and a teenage run with a quest for generation Z (15-25 years). Adults can take part in the 5 km sports run. You can run the dog or take part in a charity run. Also, the program will provide for the run of the courageous (people with disabilities). Participation in the "Chestnut Run" is paid: 200 UAH for any of the runs of your choice, except for the sports one (it costs 400 UAH). Money organizers traditionally donate to charity.

Kyiv Fan Fest

The Kyiv Fan Fest is the largest Open Air in Kiev, which is held after a long break. The best Ukrainian performers are waiting for the guests: Ruslana, Green Gray, TNMK, Zhadan and Dogs, Mir Station, Kozak system, Karna, Ot vinta and many others. There will also be an entertainment program for adults and an animation program for children. The organizers promise master classes, safe recreation areas, food and drink courts.

All-Ukrainian orienteering competition "Cup of the Capital"

Pre-registration is required to participate in the competition. Spectators can look at the participants and cheer for them absolutely free.

Open city kickboxing tournament

Fans of boxing and combat sports on the Day of Kiev will show the competition of the best Kiev kickboxing masters. True, the exact time of the competition is not yet known. Exhibition "Old Kiev in postcards"

On the vast territory of the Aviation Museum between planes (in many of which, by the way, you can climb) unique retro cars from different eras, countries and different engineering schools. Here you can see rare cars that you will not find in many automobile museums around the world. It will be not only interesting, but also fun. The festival will feature food courts and recreation areas, promises animation, contests and competitions for children and adults.

Balloon Festival "Mongolfieria"
