I love white socks. I wear them mostly with sneakers and white sneakers. And for me the question is always relevant, how to wash them. Today I will share with you my observations and methods, and you share yours, we will exchange experiences.
Once on the Internet, I read one method with laundry soap. Yes, no, nonsense, I thought at first. And then curiosity and desire to easily and efficiently wash the socks took over. I don't understand what the secret is, but it somehow works. Well, let's talk about everything in order.
White socks white socks strife
First of all, I noticed that not all socks wash equally well. Much depends on their quality. And earlier it was easier with this, I found many successful options in Sportmaster. And then I came in recently and left with nothing. And there is nothing to choose.
Where do you buy good white socks? I love Nike, they don't puff after a few socks, and they lend themselves well to washable. I also love Puma, they have sets of basic colors, there are white, gray and black (Multicolor color is called). Just in case, let me remind you that I am not advertising anything in this article, I am sharing my favorites, and it will be great if you do the same.
Sometimes I buy noname socks and they are no worse. But the main thing is that they are made of good dense material. Thin and flimsy ones quickly deteriorate, sometimes even after the first socks. Nasty pellets appear on them and one gets the feeling that they were worn by a small gypsy family of 15 people. A week.
How to wash white socks
Firstly, I always wash white only with white. This is the golden rule that keeps things whiter for longer. Secondly, I always monitor the cleanliness of the insoles, which is quite logical.
If I just put on socks somewhere and didn't take off my shoes anywhere, problems never arise. But what if you didn’t walk on the cleanest floor?
I know that someone floods their socks with whiteness or plumbing detergents. I have never dared to take such a radical method, if you do so, tell us in more detail. For some reason it seems to me that the fabric will wear out quickly, I could be wrong.
Someone is boiling their socks. The method is old and proven by more than one generation. It seems to me that once upon a time I tried it too, but somehow it didn't take root.
Oxygen bleaches a la Persol only work well with very good fabrics, well, purely in my experience. Or with light dirt. When strong, they often turn out to be weak. However, I really love Bose oxygen bleach for washing white clothes. This is my great love for many years. I just add to the washing machine in addition to the usual powder and get an excellent result. Things really become whiter, the gray tint is gone.
I like to wash my socks before washing with regular laundry soap or DURU Clean & White against tough stains. The latter has a pleasant smell, I know that not everyone likes the usual household in this regard. This is my favorite soap for washing and soaking, I have been buying it for over five years.
Let me remind you that I wash only really dirty socks.
And somehow I read this method - you need to wash the socks with laundry soap, put them in a plastic bag, tie them up and leave them for 30 minutes. Not sure how it works, but the result is really better than without the package. But that's not all.
There is another even more unusual way - do not tie the bag and put it in... microwave oven! At medium power for about 3 minutes. Then take it out and wash it in the usual way. I will not lie to you, I have not tried the second method, but my friend, whose children practice in white barefoot socks, is delighted with him.
Are there brave ones who want to repeat? Thanks for your attention, likes and subscriptions! Share your ways of washing white socks in the comments, it will be very interesting for me and other readers to read.
