I am a woman and a dishwasher or Why I like to do the dishes with my own hands

"Enough! I am a woman, not a dishwasher! " - screams a desperate housewife, throwing household gloves into the hated sink, full of dirty dishes...

Years ago, this emotional ad was played on TV with a disturbing theme song and a voiceover, where the mother is not able to read her daughter a bedtime story due to excessive employment on kitchen. This ad has always confused me. Why is the process of washing dishes accompanied by such negativity?

I've always found it a little weird to admit it, but I love doing the dishes! If all the women in the world were like me, then dishwasher manufacturers would go broke or start producing vacuum cleaners or refrigerators that are more needed by every family. I can hardly imagine a situation if I never had to wash the dishes again in my life. Probably, I would have quietly bent over from melancholy.

As a child, when no one saw, I carefully took the dishes out of the cupboard and washed them. Clean! Even then, I liked the process of driving with a soapy sponge on a plate-porcelain surface, which creaks pleasantly under my fingers.

Today, if I feel some kind of negativity lingering in my body, I always go to the kitchen to wash something. In fact, there is always something to wash, if you look carefully. Sometimes it turns out that someone has eaten and left behind (oh, miracle!) An unwashed frying pan. Or there is a plate in the refrigerator with which you can eat something and wash it.

I am frantically stunned when, having come to someone's home, I find a mountain of dirty dishes in the sink, which has rested on the faucet and is already falling out of there, occupying the space next to it. It's just that I never have dishes: as soon as it is freed from food, it is immediately washed.

Dirty dishes left in the kitchen overnight is one of the worst nightmares of my life. We have it in the family. This is what my grandmother and mother did, so I saw mountains of unwashed dishes only at a party, in Hollywood films with divorces and in Russian advertisements with disturbing music.

It is beyond my power to give a few pleasant moments of everyday life to some prudent technique. Moreover, there, as far as I know, it also does not do without problems: it breaks down, then it washes uncleanly, then it leaves "chemistry" and drips ...

Instagram bloggers brag about buying a dishwasher with the same happy expression they eat oysters with their girlfriends when celebrating a car purchase. The dishwasher advertisement does not touch me, as does the very fact of its existence. We have to look for another happiness, creaking a sponge on porcelain and ceramics.

But seriously, the love of the process of washing something is a desire for control. Control over the surrounding space as a model of your own life. After all, this is the easiest and most affordable way to relieve anxiety, pacify stress and resolve conflict with your own hands. From dirty to make clean when we want and how we want. This is what psychologists say, but they will not lie. Our dirty dishes and laundry are their experience and growing expertise.

Since I got a cat, dishwashing has shifted to give way to regular litter box, furniture cleaning, and daily mopping three times a day.

Now my life is under complete control.
