Hello to all readers of my channel! My name is Liza and today we will remember the famous spitting ink throughout the USSR.
Many people still know about it, and some adult women still use it. To be honest, I have already forgotten that such mascara exists, but while disassembling my mother-in-law's cosmetic bag, I stumbled upon it and decided to find out more about the success story of the "spitter".
I often gave my mother-in-law cosmetics and mascara was no exception, but she still returned to the Leningrad mascara, putting new ones in the far drawer.
So! The factory, which showed the world such a popular mascara throughout the Soviet Union, is called "Grim". It was founded in 1935, and the mascara itself appeared a little later, in 1947.
Mascara for eyebrows and eyelashes of the "Grim" Factory (popularly simply "spit") was originally used in theaters and on television for the make-up of actresses. It was almost impossible for ordinary people to get it. But time passed, and the popularity of mascara allowed it to go to the masses.
They are still produced, even the composition and packaging have practically not changed.
For opponents of parabens and other "chemistry" the composition is ideal, with the exception of soap, which, when it gets into the eyes, starts to pinch like a horror. The brush also remains the same.
Reasons for popularity
And here everything is simple. In the absence of an alternative, they used what they had. Even though the application was difficult (compared to modern mascaras): Spit on mascara or brush and quickly apply until it dries again. The eyelashes stuck together, but this did not stop the Soviet girls: needles or pins were used. This is you and me, modern girls, are lazy and still choose the shape of the brush that we need (to lengthen, create volume, etc.).
An inconvenient brush, separation with a needle is still half the trouble. Here is the soap in the composition - the real torture. Yawning, sneezing, crying, and sometimes laughing with such mascara in front of my eyes was contraindicated, my eyes began to pinch.
At the same time, in addition to my mother-in-law, my former colleague, an elderly lady, even in the 21st century used only a "spit-stick", because, according to her, she is allergic to everything else. I still remember her thickly painted eyelashes up to her eyebrows. And I will not say that it was ugly. Quite decently and without lumps.
True, in order to achieve a gorgeous result with this mascara, you need a lot of skill, from the first time "doll" eyelashes were obtained not for everyone.
Leningrad ink is still on sale, on the official website of the Grim Factory the price is only 50 rubles.
This is what cosmetics they used to develop the coloring technique! That's what I understand!
