Quarantine is a great opportunity to teach your child politeness and rules of conduct at school. Indeed, in the near future, the parents of unrestrained children will have to fork out. The Verkhovna Rada wants to introduce punishment for the teacher's offense. This is not a reprimand in the student's personal matter, but quite a financial whip: neither more nor less, 5100 UAH. Legislators want to protect teachers, who are increasingly suffering from impunity for schoolchildren and their parents. At the same time, the reverse side of the coin is interesting: a teacher faces a fine of UAH 2,500 for insulting a student.
Effective learning must be built on mutual respect between teacher and students. If this respect is not there, then oh study out of the question. Either the schoolchildren fall prey to the tyrant teacher, or the teacher loses his authority over a couple of impudent students. It is necessary to solve such problems at the legislative level. Therefore, two years ago, the Law on Counteracting bullying, which introduces responsibility for bullying and ridicule of students.
Teachers in this law were on the sidelines - the legislators did not foresee the persecution of teachers by schoolchildren (or parents). Therefore, a new bill was registered in the Rada: this time on humiliation and persecution of teachers. According to the norms of the document, for causing offense to a teacher, the offender (that is, his parents) faces a fine of 300 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens. Today it is 17 * 300 = 5100 UAH. Also, legislators propose to fine students for the use of alcohol and drugs on the school grounds - here the fine will be 600 non-taxable minimums or UAH 10,200.
In high school, teachers find it increasingly difficult to retain the attention of students and maintain credibility / istockphoto.com
The document has not yet been adopted and has not yet passed even the first reading. But the teachers are looking forward to him. It's no secret that now it is more and more difficult to keep the teacher authority among schoolchildren. It is especially hard for young teachers - high school students look at them as if they were peers and allow themselves too much in the classroom. A separate threat is militant parents who come to understand and scandalize because of each triplet.
Disadvantages of the new bill
For their part, parents are afraid of abuse from teachers after the adoption of such a law. Many believe that teachers will be able to manipulate "resentment" and "insult" if parents, for example, refuse to donate money for the needs of the school. Particularly suspicious teachers will not even be able to hint at any criticism - they will immediately begin to consider it "humiliation of the honor and dignity of the individual." There will be more conflicts in the school, because teachers will have an instrument of “financial intimidation” of parents.
Parents want to equalize punishment for insulting a teacher and bullying a student / istockphoto.com
It is difficult to say which of the sides of the educational process has a greater right to vote here. After all, “on the other side of the barricades” in different situations both children and a teacher can find themselves. However, the unequal punishment for the essentially identical offenses is striking. For example, for bullying a schoolchild, a teacher most often faces disciplinary responsibility - a reprimand for violating pedagogical ethics. In rare cases (and then, if parents persistently seek it), teachers will be obliged to pay a fine from 50 to 150 non-taxable minimums (850-2550 UAH) or will be attracted to public works for 20-40 hours. But for bullying teachers the fine is suggested to be doubled.
This is perhaps one of the main complaints about the bill. Indeed, from a legal point of view, this is a violation of the principle of equality of constitutional rights. If the document is adopted, lawyers and public organizations promise to defend the rights of schoolchildren and raise fines for bullying students to the level of fines for insulting a teacher.
