The Ministry of Health told when newborns will be able to vaccinate against tuberculosis with BCG vaccine
Already on the third or fifth day after the birth of the child, they should be vaccinated with the BCG vaccine, which protects against tuberculosis. Despite the fact that there is an epidemic of this disease in Ukraine, since January of this year it was impossible to get this vaccine. She simply was not in maternity hospitals and other medical institutions, since they did not have time to purchase a new batch. Moreover, as it is written on the page of the Ministry of Health, for newborns, protection from tuberculosis is very important, because their disease affects the kidneys, liver and bones and there is a high risk of tuberculous meningitis. Finally, this problem was resolved. The Ministry of Health said when BCG vaccination will appear in Ukraine.
At a briefing by the Ministry of Health on March 11, Deputy Health Minister Svetlana Shatalova said that 450 thousand BCG vaccine doses are already in Ukraine. The delivery of these vaccines was provided by the international organization UNICEF.
"They will arrive at their destinations by the end of the week."- said the official. Later, Ukraine will receive more 640 thousand doses. You can get vaccinated free of charge in state medical institutions or in private ones that have entered into an agreement with the National Health Service of Ukraine.
