Ukrainian legislation provides for the opportunity to conduct final attestation of 9th grade pupils in the form of VNO.
But Ukrainian parents worry and schoolchildren it makes no sense that independent testing will have to be taken already in 2021. This rule will begin to operate fully in 6 years, in 2027.
Tatyana Vakulenko, Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Center for Assessment, explained that ninth-graders will not take the VNO either this year or next year. According to the procedure, it is necessary to agree on the program of such testing and make it public at least 18 months before the tests.
The point is that the GIA, the already existing exams, have certain standards. And these standards were introduced not only for 9th grade students, but also for 4th grade students.Vakulenko noted that the new standard will be introduced gradually, giving time for adaptation, and not in all subjects at once. They will start with language and literature, gradually moving on to social sciences and humanities.
A pilot project for grade 4 students was planned to start in 2021, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus.
For the GIA, we will take only certain elements of the UPE, schoolchildren, for example, will not have to go anywhere, they will take an exam at school with teachers and the tasks they have developed.
