"This is not Moscow for you!": I complained about the seller because of the lack of a mask, but I was convicted

The times are not easy now, you have to follow the rules that a couple of years ago seemed inconceivable. For many, they remain impracticable, although this is just a matter of personal responsibility and everyday habit. She showed, as it seemed to me, a civic position and a responsible attitude, but many condemned me for this both online and in real life.

Not a general store, not a supermarket yet

The other day I went to a bakery-pastry shop, which I haven't been to for a long time, because I stopped walking this route. I missed the pastries, which are amazingly good there, always fresh and tasty. But the service leaves much to be desired: sellers with a mournful face seem to be doing a favor, although there are no queues there at all ("There are many of you, but I alone" will not give you a ride).

The network is Moscow-based, but our sellers are local. Why be surprised, since we do not live in a big and beautiful capital, where everything is controlled more strictly and tighter, but in a small town near Moscow, where everyone is our own and everyone can do anything...

No matter how absurd the requirements may seem, I adhere to them strictly. I always have a mask with me, of which there is a whole arsenal at home. As a bespectacled person, I experience some discomfort from wearing them, because the glasses fog up from breathing. It is inconvenient - but what to do, since the rules are the same for everyone. What's the point in rebelling?

The law is not written for sellers (it is for buyers)

On the way to my favorite pastry, I pulled this hated piece of blue cloth over my face again. On the front door there is an inscription: "We do not serve without a mask." Okay, I thought, and pushed open the door. And what do I see there?

Tired middle-aged woman (about 60 years old) with an indifferent expression on her face and indifferent silence in response to my greeting walks around without a hint of any protection on his face, wandering lazily along the counter, grunting in his palm, not constrained glove. Some have masks at least on the chin hanging on the form...

Here it is not on the face, nor on the neck, nor at the cash register, anywhere on the counter (I carefully examined it while pretending to choose a cake). And this is the point from the bakery, just a minute! Bread, cakes and other confectionery goodies are completely open!

Violation and punishment (ok Google!)

For some reason I didn’t say a word, although I could. Disgust and indignation prevailed over my appetite, so I turned around and quickly retreated.

I was seething with indignation, so when I got home, I immediately Google the point in search engines, wrote angry feedback and a claim on a specific seller to the official website of the network and to reviews on Yandex and Google. I shared it with a friend, with my mother, with a man. I wrote to the local city group Vkontakte. For some reason, I expected support, which, of course, was. But there was also something else.

A simple formality or "This is not Moscow for you!"

Namely:

- Do you understand that all this is a formality? That a piece of tissue on your face has almost no effect on anything?
- Why didn’t you make a remark to her, but write to the authorities and give publicity? It was possible to solve everything quietly. (Why be quiet? So that everything is sewn-covered? Doesn't she know about it herself? Moreover, there is an announcement on the door).
And the cherry on the cake (how thematic!):
- This middle-aged woman must have found a job in our city with difficulty, and now she will either be fired, or deducted from her salary, or she will be deprived of her bonus, or she will be punished in some other way. And all this is because of you, who decided to show off and become a good girl. You should be ashamed! This is not Moscow for you!

Person and law

She is poor and I am rich. She buys loaves for 30 rubles for borscht for a family, and I eat cakes with cream at 100 rubles for a tiny piece in one person. She lived her life and continues to survive with an open face, and I am a young inhuman truth-minder with a piece of synthetics on my face.

It's like that. And so be it. But I will not feel sorry for anyone and I will complain. I will complain about those who are 20 and 60. Provincial narrow-mindedness and the desire to be in my hut on the edge have not surprised me for a long time. The only surprise is that a simple measure, which practically does not require any effort and high costs, becomes almost a sacrifice or a heroic deed.
