Leather shoes - looks good, allows feet to breathe, keeps warm. But there are also disadvantages:

- wears out easily, especially if the child is active,
- indoors, the child's feet immediately get wet and then freeze when going outside,
- leather shoes are expensive, and defects appear on them quickly, therefore it is not rational for children to take them.
Snowboards - consist of an upper water-repellent layer, a membrane or foil that reflects heat, and a lining (wool or synthetic). In such shoes, the feet of the child breathe well, remain warm at temperatures outside of -25 degrees.
Also one of the advantages of snowboards: easy to put on and take off, do not get wet, look attractive.
Membrane shoes - such shoes wick moisture away and do not get wet, but they are designed for not very low temperatures. The child will need to wear extra warm socks. Of the minuses: membrane shoes cannot be dried on a battery, they must be regularly treated with special water-repellent agents.
Felt boots - modern felt boots are made of felt or felt; wool or fur is used for lining. These shoes are considered one of the warmest. It is important to choose a model with a rubberized sole.
The design of felt boots varies from the traditional (and rather boring), which not every child will like, to the more fashionable with embroidery and other decorations.
Inflated boots (or quilts) - convenient in that it is very easy for a child to put them on and take off. Outside, they are usually textile, therefore they can get wet, treatment with water-repellent agents is needed. Dutik are suitable for milky and not very cold winters.
Ugg boots - such boots are very comfortable and warm (if there is a natural sheepskin inside), but they are not orthopedically correct, therefore it is not advisable for children to wear them all the time. Also, ugg boots get wet easily, therefore they are suitable only for dry weather.
What material should the sole of winter shoes be made of?
The most comfortable options for outsole material are PVC and TPE, because they do not slip. But the most common shoes are with polyurethane soles. It is lightweight, flexible, but cold and glides on.
What else to look for when choosing winter shoes for a child?
1. Babies who are sitting in a stroller do not need to buy too expensive shoes, they should just be insulated. After all, the child can always be additionally covered and wrapped from the cold, put on additional socks. The quality of the sole and membrane, the naturalness of the lining at this age do not play a special role.
2. Take a size with a margin. Shoes should not sit back to back - otherwise your feet may freeze. The stock should be at least 1 cm. To do this, you can take out the insole, attach it to the child's leg (putting your foot on the floor) and see if there is the necessary stock.3. Snowboards are not suitable for babies who are just starting to walk. the leg will "dangle". Better to give preference to leather shoes.
4. For children over 3 years old: if the child is not very active on the street, then it is better to choose snowboots or felt boots, and for very active children membrane shoes are suitable.
5. Before buying shoes on the Internet, find out the length of the insole of a particular model, do not be guided only to indicate the size, because different manufacturers may have very different dimensional mesh.
