What signs indicate that a child 3 years or older needs to be shown to a speech therapist?

1. The kid gets confused in syllables
If a child constantly rearranges syllables in words, he may have dysarthria. There is a simple test for its presence: it is usually difficult for such children to pull the tongue up, touch the corners of the mouth, hold it in one position.

2. The baby had birth injuries
Often, problems make themselves felt years after the birth of a baby. If during childbirth he suffered injuries or any critical conditions, be prepared that after 2-3 years the help of a speech therapist will be needed.

3. The child does not pronounce sounds that are difficult to articulate

4. The child did not have humming and after a year he is silent
Children are of varying degrees of talkativeness, but humming, "gagging" are signs of normal speech development and are practically mandatory stages of this process.

6. The child tries not to speak at all, even if he knows how
The kid prefers games where there is no need to talk, tries to show everything with gestures, avoids other children, is not interested in other people.

7. The child speaks too fast
The kid does not have enough breath to express a thought, he wants to say a lot and very quickly, this turns speech into scraps of words and sounds.

8. The child constantly speaks in the nose
Nasty (like burr, lisp) is a reason to urgently appear to a speech therapist. Over the years, this will become more difficult to fix.

9. The child was silent for a long time, and then spoke in an incomprehensible language
If a baby under 3 years old practically did not speak or was completely silent, and then began to speak, but it is impossible to understand him - this is definitely a direct indication to visit a speech therapist. Also, the child may constantly drool during a conversation, he may have difficulty with articulation.
