If you want to stay young longer, keep an eye on your blood iron levels.
An international team of researchers from the University of Edinburgh in the UK and the Max Planck Institute for the Biology of Aging in Germany believe that aging the body is associated with the iron content in the blood, writes Science and Technology Daily.
As part of their experiment, scientists analyzed information about the health of 1.75 million people, paying special attention to the natural life expectancy, the duration of an active life (when diseases do not interfere with doing whatever you want) and the longevity characteristic of of each region.
In the human body, there are ten regions of the genome associated with these indicators. And for each indicator, the genome played a role, which regulated the level of iron in the blood. This gives us the right to assume that genes involved in iron metabolism are also responsible for human longevity.Doctors warn that it is impossible to take, for example, tablets with iron uncontrollably, this will not help the cause. Too low a level or an abnormally high concentration of an element lead to the development of Parkinson's disease and liver pathologies.
But maintaining normal iron levels will definitely help keep you young!
