Scientists have identified the blood types associated with the lowest and highest risks of contracting COVID-19.
The studies were carried out with a sample of 2,000 patients, scientists found that most often people with a second blood group, and least of all, the Chinese virus infects carriers of the first type.
For the results to be representative, for a start, scientists determined the ratio of blood groups in a wider range of people in Wuhan, it turned out, that in the control group of 4,000 people, 30% had the first group, 30% had the second, a quarter had the third, and the remaining 9.1% had the fourth group blood.
After that, the researchers began to study blood types in people who contracted the coronavirus in the Chinese province.Among carriers of the second blood group, 37.8% were infected, and 32.2% were healthy. Among carriers of the first blood group, the situation turned out to be the opposite, 25.8% were infected, and 33.8% were not.
