Many parents are determined to temper the child, but quickly abandon the idea under pressure from relatives and myths about this process.
1. Hardening involves ice water and swimming in an ice hole
In fact, hardening is just an adequate attitude to thermoregulation and a child's clothing. Even the smallest children understand if they are hot or cold. The task of parents is not to wrap up to the maximum and not to be proactive ("You are cold, because I said so"), but to teach the child to feel his body correctly,
Hardening does not mean sending a child out into the cold without outer clothing or dipping it into an ice hole. It has nothing to do with health. Also, hardening should not be violent: if a child does not accept pouring cold water, you cannot impose it. For hardening, it is enough not to heat some of the products from the refrigerator - the same yoghurts, for example, regularly ventilate the room, create the desired level of temperature and humidity, without overheating.
2. Without a hat, the child will definitely get sick
He can get sick from being exposed to viruses or bacteria, not from walking without a hat when he is not really cold. And meningitis will not appear from this either. To protect a child from dangerous infections, he must be vaccinated. And even more so, do not impose a hat on your child if the temperature outside allows you to comfortably do without it yourself.3. The child will be blown out of the draft and air conditioner
Rather, the child may develop a sore throat, cough and nasal congestion from the fact that the air conditioner dries the air (or a filter in it), like a window open in winter. Therefore, you need to continue to ventilate periodically, but also use a humidifier.
Adults can really "blow" from a window or an air conditioner - but only because they have been hiding from it all their lives and are not used to such a flow of air. However, doctors do not recommend that anyone sit directly under the cold stream of air conditioner.
4. Girls can't sit on the cold
Again, inflammation of the appendages or cystitis does not occur out of the blue just because of a short skirt or sitting on a cold floor, they can occur due to infections against a background of severely weakened immunity.5. Better to dress the child warmly, just in case
If a mobile child sweats in the cold, he is much more likely to get sick. Therefore, when choosing clothes, it is important to take into account how the child behaves on the street: actively moving or sitting quietly. And if he tells you on the street that he is hot, then you need to be allowed to "unwind" a little.
