Parents of modern teenagers have many reasons to worry, caffeine is one of them.

Researchers claim that teenagers now drink much more coffeethan ten years ago. However, children who have not reached the age of 6 should not be given coffee at all, for children under 11, doctors allow only 25 mg per day, and adolescents under 17 can consume up to 50 mg of caffeine per day.

These doses seem very small when you calculate the caffeine content of common foods:

  • Soda - 40 mg in 0.33 l,
  • Coffee (cup) - 100 mg
  • Black tea (cup) 40-50 mg

It turns out that a child can drink only half a cup of coffee, a cup of tea or a can of cola in a day, but not all at once.

Of course, caffeine is a powerful stimulant, it excites the body and enhances the response to stimuli. However, too much of this substance leads to sleep disturbances and anxiety.
