How not to bring up a "navel of the earth" from a child

The whole family takes care of the child, but he should not become its center and head.

A small child is given a lot of love and attention - and that's okay. But how to maintain a balance and not grow out of it a "navel of the earth" - an egoist who will not reckon with other people's interests and will think that everyone always owes him?

1. Praise the effort

You can say "I love you" without a reason, but praise that the child is "the best" is not worth it. If he did something without much effort, then there is no need to praise such an act. Helped you? Thank you. Learned new things? Note that he did it well and you can see his efforts.

2. Learn to respect others

A child is allowed a lot - but only within the framework where he does not touch other people's personal boundaries. It is unacceptable to offend neither small nor adults on his part. The child should know that absolutely everyone should be respected, regardless of height, gender, skin color, including parents who may be busy or want to relax.

3. Let your child be disappointed

Often parents try to indulge the child in everything, so that he in no way gets upset and does not cry. But if a child does not face obstacles and gets everything he wants, then, growing up and getting into society, he is faced with a huge disappointment that the world does not revolve around him. He is not used to this, his picture of the world is crumbling.

There should be small disappointments in the child's life: an unbought toy, the need to go home when you want to walk, give someone else's toy, the need let mom and dad go for a while and stay with grandmother, etc. When he is faced with such small troubles, he will more steadily take difficulties in the future. more serious.

4. Introduce the rules from an early age to your child

There is no need to justify bad behavior by saying that he is "small and does not yet understand." Even one-year-old children understand prohibitions if parents voice and motivate them in understandable words. And as he grows up, the child becomes familiar with the rules set by the parents. No need to wait for him to grow up, teach right away.

5. Do not interfere with showing independence

Kids love to help their parents - and you need to provide them with this opportunity, even if without them it would be possible to do things faster and better. But so the baby gets used to the fact that mom needs help with cleaning, toys need to be collected. Of course, you don't want to do everything yourself, but together with an adult - with pleasure. Don't do all the work for him.
