Why kids should write by hand in the digital age
Handwriting, drawing, and typing on the keyboard affect a child's brain in different ways.
A study by the Norwegian scientists, proves that the fastest way a child assimilates new information if learning is accompanied by handwriting.
The Newatlas, citing scholars, points out the need to use writing as a way of memorizing and understanding.
The brain activity while typing on the computer was different from the brain activity during writing and drawing. To strengthen neural connections, all three types of activity must be used.Researcher Audrey van der Meer claims that writing makes the brain work harder and harder, because when typing on the keyboard uses one movement for all letters - pressing a key, and while writing, you have to control each letter and motor skills.
