The watermelon season is short. But I really want to extend it. Is it possible to freeze a watermelon without losing its taste and aroma?
Wash and dry the watermelon well. Peel it off and remove the seeds.
It is best to freeze different shapes of watermelon pieces. For example, watermelon balls will look spectacular in a cocktail, and for salads or desserts, you can simply cut into cubes.
Cover the cutting board with cling film, place the slices of watermelon on it and send to the freezer. Ideal if your refrigerator has a quick freeze function. This will freeze the fruit while retaining its flavor and texture as much as possible. When the pieces are frozen, they need to be arranged in plastic boxes or zip-fastened bags. In this form, they can be stored for 8-12 months.
Re-freezing the defrosted watermelon, of course, is not worth it.
