How to deal with teenage laziness

As psychologists say, laziness does not exist. There is a drawback motivation. As well as fatigue, stress, fear of failure and various psychological attitudes that were awarded to the child by his parents and which can go with him throughout his life if they are not worked out.

And yet - how to get rid of laziness when it comes to a teenager? Run to a psychologist? Not necessary.

1. When in adolescence study fades into the background - this is normal. The child wants to communicate, make friends, build a romantic relationship, but that's not all. And the more parents push and insist on studying, the stronger the resistance will be.

2. It is possible to combine communication and study. If a child has friends at school, falls in love, he goes there in high spirits, is more motivated to show himself well in the classroom. If a teenager has problems with communication, it is worth consulting with a psychologist.

3. The child needs more rest. Yes, he has become older, but hormonal changes are taking place in the body, which affects mood and well-being. You can't just close your eyes to this and demand to learn more. After school, a teenager definitely needs to rest. Anyway, in this state, homework will not be completed quickly.

4. The child needs motivation. Actually, all people need motivation, but a teenager needs a little more. He is old enough to understand that theory in school and practice in real life are two different things. Therefore, he does not understand why cramming incomprehensible dates, terms, formulas.

Show your child how knowledge can be useful in life: geography and foreign languages ​​- in travel, biology and chemistry - in the aspiration to become a beautician, nutritionist, fitness trainer, etc.

5. The child needs choices. If he does not have hobbies and hobbies - perhaps he does not know what they are and does not suspect about his hidden talents? Maybe your son doesn't like robotics but will like ballet? Or will your daughter be happy to sew instead of doing gymnastics? Go to master classes with your child, let him try a new activity for himself, which will be shown to him by a person who is most in love with his work.

6. The child is held back by the fear of failure. And this fear was often instilled in him by his parents. And it is because of this fear that teenagers skip even their favorite activities. Offer your help: maybe the teenager is embarrassed that he does not have good equipment for training, or the coach / teacher spoke to him unfriendly?

7. Teens don't always plan their time well. Therefore, they are late, skip classes. Teach him by example how to time and plan his affairs. Explain in a positive way why this is needed.
