For a vacation to be successful, you need to prepare well for it.
1. Plan your vacation so that everyone has something to do. If the children are not very young, it is worth listening to their opinion on how they want to spend their time. If children love the sand and the sea, and their parents do not, then blindly follow the lead of the children, as well as forcing them to visit museums and excursions without any desire.
It is important to choose a compromise recreation program so that no one is "tormented".
2. Think over the duration of the trip. If this is the first vacation with children or a completely new format for the family (for example, with tents by the river), then you should limit yourself to 5-7 days. It is also worth considering how quickly your children are specifically able to adapt to a new environment.
There are children (and adults) who, when the climate and drinking water change, spend 2-3 days of vacation "on the potty". For them, of course, 5 days of vacation will not be enough, because after adaptation they did not even have time to rest.
3. Take the usual things. For a child, this can be several favorite toys, including those with which he is used to falling asleep.
It is also useful to bring your usual food with you if the exact same cannot be bought on the spot. More familiar things and more food - calmer children.
4. Don't overwhelm your child with emotions. Parents often try to cram the most emotionally charged program in a short time, so that the child is not bored and he is not.
The result is often the opposite: children get tired, overworked, whine and do not want anything. Every day they should have time for "self-employment", when not you invent something for them, but they entertain themselves.
5. Make time for yourself without children. It is not always possible to do this spontaneously, but it is quite possible if you think about this issue well in advance.
For example, go on vacation with two families and agree to take turns to look after the children. So adults will have the opportunity to go to a restaurant or retire.
6. Don't force study on vacation. Give your child freedom and rest for at least these 1-2 weeks. Otherwise, from a psychological point of view, it will not be a rest for him at all, because the child will always have a responsibility to learn.
Nothing bad will happen with his knowledge and skills during this period. And on condition of quality rest, on the contrary, it will become more productive. The same applies to adults: there is no point in taking work with you on vacation: it will be more difficult for you to work, and there is no rest, and the psychological load will only increase significantly from the understanding of this unfair obligation to work even in vacation.
7. Special attention to holidays with teenagers. Discuss with your child if he wants to go with you - often they forget to ask the opinion of adolescents in this matter, and it's time to listen to him.
If leaving your teen at home alone or with relatives is not an option at all, invite him to take a friend with him. Together they will definitely be more interesting. But it is still important to give them maximum freedom, without tying them to themselves as little children.
