Problems in developing a vaccine against coronavirus reported in Germany
The COVID-19 vaccine, which the whole world is eagerly awaiting, may not be effective.
Research by scientists shows that over time, the amount of antibodies produced by a patient decreases. It means that vaccine with a high degree of probability will not be able to protect a person from re-infection with the coronavirus COVID-19.
According to Handelsblatt, in humans, two types of cells are responsible for immunity, B-lymphocytes and T-lymphocytes. Over time, the number of B-lymphocytes (antibodies) decreases, but the T-cells remain able to fight the virus.
It is not entirely clear how this discovery will affect the strategy for developing a vaccine, but further research in this direction is needed, experts say. Even if a new vaccine can create immunity in a person against coronavirus, its short duration may become the main problem.Recall
