Most children have fears - and that's okay. Unless they become something more.

To deal effectively with children fears, it is better to know in advance what they are.

Fear of new people and places

A child may be afraid of cobwebs, feathers, leaves, playground cover, petals, whatever. Adults don't usually understand this.

There can be several reasons for fear: a child's imagination or a situation that reinforced the fear.

It is useless to simply explain to a child that there is no need to be afraid. You need to recognize the child's fear, provide him with support, and after an unpleasant situation, ask about his fear.

You cannot insist that you need to "stop being afraid." If someone encourages your child to be more courageous, take the side of your child and tell him that he does not have to listen to other people's advice.

Fear of water

It can appear in children of any age. Children may be afraid of both washing their hair and showering or open water. In addition, there may be a fear of washcloths, soap, shampoo, or foam.

Also, the child can safely swim until splashes or foam appears. Fear can manifest itself only in certain bodies of water: in open water, in a pool, in a bath.

Also, fear of water can be "transmitted" from parents.

What can be done: Admit the child's fear, help him cover his face if he is afraid of water. If the child is afraid to wash his hair, you shouldn't rush and insist.

If the child is afraid of a washcloth, try changing to another, choose the design you like.

The main thing - do not be afraid of water yourself, set a positive and safe example.

Fear of pain (injections, doctors)

Children very quickly remember that people in white coats can bring unpleasant sensations up to pain.

It is important to never scare your child with doctors and hospitals, injections and vaccinations. It is necessary to create in the child's mind a positive image of doctors and hospitals, to say that they help children to recover there.

It is also important for the parents themselves not to be afraid of doctors and not to broadcast their fears to the child.

If the child is afraid even of the building of the clinic, then try to take him there for no reason - when the child is as calm as possible. So the baby will see that it is not at all scary to go to the clinic, they will not do anything unpleasant to him there.

Fear of the dark

Most children are afraid of the dark. This is largely due to their developed imagination, and besides, the fear of losing their mother and other loved ones.

Alternatively, put your child a night light, do not rush to leave the room when the baby falls asleep. Admit that you are sometimes afraid, too, tell what helps you in such cases.

Not only monsters, but also superheroes can live in the child's fantasies, therefore it will be useful to tell the child how the image of the hero helps you cope with the experiences.
