Supporting bands for pregnant are of three types:

1. Bandage belt. It looks like a wide elastic band with fasteners or Velcro straps. Its disadvantages - visible under clothing, easily twists, rises or slides when you move.

2. Bondage panties. Looks like a very high waist panties. It is elastic and comfortable, not visible under clothes. But it needs to be washed daily, like any other underwear. Plus, it can get hot all day in summer.

Also, such bandages have a stretch limit, so as the abdomen grows, you will have to buy an additional larger size.

3. Universal bandage. It looks like a bandage belt, but it is narrower on one side and wider on the other. Thanks to this, it is also suitable for wearing after childbirth. During pregnancy, the belly should be supported by a narrow part. Such a bandage is contraindicated in breech or transverse presentation.

When is a bandage needed?

  • scars on the uterus after cesarean or other operations;
  • any abdominal surgery that was less than 2 years ago;
  • multiple pregnancy, polyhydramnios;
  • risk of miscarriage;
  • low placenta;
  • weak abs and pelvic floor muscles;
  • phlebeurysm;
  • active sports;
  • pathology of the uterus.

How to choose a bandage?

To determine the type of product, you need to consult a doctor.

How to figure out what size you need: for a panty bandage - one size larger than your regular underwear, for the rest - the same size as your clothes.

Take a good look at the bungee before purchasing. It should be elastic, with the addition of natural fibers. The fasteners and Velcro should hold well and not chafe the skin.

Ideally, if there is an opportunity to try on a bandage before purchasing. It is useless to buy a used bandage - in the process of wearing it stretches and loses its properties.

If you put on a bandage - and the child immediately began to actively push - such a product does not suit you, the baby is too cramped.

How to wear a bandage?

1. Pregnant women can wear a bandage no more than 3-4 hours in a row - and in general no more than 10 hours a day.

2. It is categorically impossible to sleep in a bandage. It will squeeze your stomach hard.

3. It is better to put on the bandage while lying down to open the area under the abdomen. The universal bandage is worn while standing.

4. The bandage should fit snugly, but not press. Fastens slightly above the pubic bone.

5. The bandage is also removed while lying down - so that the stomach does not drop sharply down. After removing it, it is better to lie on your side for 20 minutes.

6. The bandage belt is worn only under the belly, in no case should it be pulled over the belly, squeezing it. The bandage panties fit the figure.

7. You can sit in a bandage, but it is important to do it with a straight back.
