To tell children about Easter, you need to understand the meaning of this holiday yourself.
About the meaning Easter the Bible speaks beautifully. How, why and why Jesus Christ died for people can be read in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
To explain to a child the meaning of Christ's sacrifice, you can tell a story:
In the classroom, the lesson was disrupted, as a result of which all the children suffered. The teacher said that whoever confesses his guilt will be punished. Everyone is silent. And now one brave disciple raises his hand and says that it is his fault. For all other classmates, this act will be heroic.
You can also say about Christ - He came to take away the sins of all people.
Why is Easter called Easter?
Tell your child that Easter means to walk by. This reminds of the time of the exodus of the Jews from Egypt, where they were slaves to the Pharaoh. Pharaoh did not want to let his slaves go for a long time, as a result of which the Lord interceded for the Jewish people: he sent the angel of death to take all the firstborn in the Egyptian people. But the families of the Jews remained intact, because earlier God ordered to anoint the door frames of the Jewish houses with the blood of a lamb, as a result of which the angel of death passed by these houses. The Jews survived thanks to the death and blood of the lamb!
In the same way we are saved by the death of Christ. It would be nice to explain to the child that the lamb is the symbol of Christ.

What does "resurrect" mean?
Risen is revived. Jesus is not a man, He is God and man at the same time - God-man!
Why do we say "Christ is risen!"?
When we say these words, it means that we want to share this news with friends. Tell your child that this is definitely not a congratulation like "Happy New Year" and that you need to answer it not "Thank you!", But in a special way - "Truly resurrected!"
On Easter, as well as on Christmas, enter the tradition of reading passages from the Bible that tell about the main events of the holiday. This is interesting not only for children, but also allows adults to learn better about major Christian holidays.
