The latent course of the coronavirus is characterized by a loss of smell and taste, according to doctors.

According to the British Association of Otolaryngology, such manifestations of coronavirus most often worried carriers COVID-19who did not feel any other symptoms of the disease.
Hidden carriers who did not know that they were sick with coronavirus certainly contributed to the rapid spread of the infection. Nobody checked them, because the above symptoms for a long time remained outside the attention of doctors.
However, anosmia and hyposmia are not uncommon symptoms of any respiratory infection. Viruses that infect the upper respiratory tract also infect the cells of the nasal tissue. Due to the resulting inflammation, the sense of smell is impaired.

It is noted that about 70% of people with a positive test for coronavirus noted a loss of taste and anosmia.
