About 50% of pregnant women experience toxicosis.

Toxicosis during pregnancy is a very common situation. There is even a stereotype that this is a constant companion for women in position, and nausea and vomiting are one of the first signs of pregnancy.

Most often, toxicosis passes by the second trimester and does not pose a threat to the health of the expectant mother and child. But in order to alleviate this condition, it is imperative to adjust your diet.

Remember that if your condition is severe, and vomiting is frequent (for example, after every meal), then you need to see a doctor immediately. And in this case, the nutritional plan should be prescribed by the attending specialist.

But today we will discuss a less severe case when a pregnant woman can cope on her own, and toxicosis simply indicates a restructuring in the body.

What can you eat with toxicosis

Your diet must be balanced, even if most foods seem to make you feel sick. The first trimester is an important period in which the foundation of the future child's health is laid, organs are formed.

The fetus will "pull" all the elements it needs from the mother's body in any case, therefore it is important to properly feed oneself in order to maintain health.

The diet must contain vegetables, in particular broccoli - it is easy to digest, not has a specific taste and smell, while it contains a lot of calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamin FROM.

All this is extremely necessary for the health of the pregnant woman, the normal functioning of the nervous and cardiovascular system.

For vegetables, also give preference to cucumbers and boiled potatoes. Small portions of these foods are good for relieving nausea.

Among fruits, your best friends with toxicosis are kiwi, orange, lemon, sour green apples. If you have heartburn, it is better to be more careful with them: avoid or stock up on heartburn remedies.

Porridge will help you well, but it is better to cook them in water, do not add sugar and salt.

The meat in the diet of a pregnant woman should be low-fat, without streaks, boiled or stewed, soft, without spices. It is better to replace it periodically with eggs, soy and legumes (in small quantities).

Of the sweet with toxicosis, only hard unleavened cookies and dried fruits can be used.

Many pregnant women note that during toxicosis, the body reacts better to cool food than to warm food. And it is also preferable that it be homogeneous: either all solid, or all puree, etc.

What you can drink: water (regular, with lemon, with mint), chamomile broth, cranberry juice, diluted homemade compote.

What can not be eaten with toxicosis

In general, the list of junk food is the same as for any person on a diet: nothing fried, fatty, spicy, smoked sweet.

In many pregnant women, toxicosis is aggravated by dairy and fermented milk products. Listen to your body, you may be better off temporarily replacing them with other sources of calcium and protein.

Nausea is provoked by sweet and salty snacks, carbonated drinks, food and drinks with sweeteners, fatty meats, coffee, strong tea, dishes with mushrooms, pickled vegetables, pastries. Also, a large amount of food eaten works to increase toxicosis.

Therefore, you need to eat often, but little by little, all the time remaining in a slightly hungry state. Of course, you do not need to torture yourself with hunger, and this will not save you from toxicosis.
