The department also notes that everyone who has come into contact with the sick are under medical supervision.

For 11 months of 2019, 2063 cases of whooping cough were registered in Ukraine. During this time, only 74% of children in the first year of life were routinely vaccinated with three doses of the vaccine against whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus (DTP).

Doctors emphasize that only herd immunity guarantees the safety of children who, due to age or clinical contraindications, cannot be vaccinated.

Pertussis is a bacterial infection of the respiratory tract. More often, the pathogen is transmitted by coughing or sneezing. Many children who develop whooping cough suffer from coughing fits for a long time - 4-8 weeks or longer. This disease is most dangerous for babies.

You can prevent severe pertussis by vaccinating your child. According to the national immunization schedule, four vaccinations are required at 2, 4, 6 and 18 months to prevent pertussis.

The child vaccine is available in all regions and is free of charge. As of December 1, 2019, the number of DPT vaccines is 1 million 512 thousand. 354 doses.
