It is impossible to completely get rid of psoriasis, but it is in the power of parents to achieve long-term remission and avoid complications.

Psoriasis in children manifests itself in the same way as in adults - in the form of red dry spots raised above the surface of the skin, from above they are covered with "plaques", similar to frozen paraffin.

It is worth remembering that the treatment of psoriasis is always selected individually by a dermatologist. There is no one-size-fits-all medicine that will help all patients. Moreover, self-medication and the use of drugs that supposedly helped someone else can even worsen the course of the disease.

Why is psoriasis treated individually? Because it has many varieties in terms of stage, spread and time of exacerbation. And a specialist should put this puzzle together in order to find the right drugs. And the main task of parents is not to trust advertising of miraculous remedies and to contact a competent dermatologist in time.

What other rules are important to follow for parents whose child is sick with psoriasis:

1. Hygiene of the child. Keeping the body clean plays into the hands of psoriasis treatment. You need to bathe in warm water, do not steam or temper.

2. No - hard towels and washcloths. A towel for a child with psoriasis should be soft and fluffy, the skin should be gently blotted, not rubbed. In no case should you wash your child with hard sponges or brushes.

3. Moisturizing the skin. After bathing, be sure to moisturize baby skin. This will require a neutral moisturizer. It is important to avoid excessive dryness of the skin.

4. Protection from injury. In psoriasis patients, any scratches or other injuries to the skin provoke the formation of new lesions. Therefore, the baby's skin must be carefully protected from injury.

5. Sunburn and ultraviolet light. For some patients with psioriasis, doctors prescribe a lot of sun exposure and sunbathing. However, this is not a universal recipe and you should definitely consult with your doctor about it. In addition, sunburn can exacerbate the disease.

6. Cold protection. In the cold season, it is important not to overcool the child (but not to overheat), to try as much as possible to protect against ARVI.

7. Treatment of chronic diseases. If the child has other chronic health problems besides psoriasis, they must be put into a state of sustained remission.

That is, to cure all teeth affected by caries, to heal the throat, ears, nose - and not to allow otitis media, sinusitis or tonsillitis to enter the stage of exacerbation. After all, any inflammation will also provoke an exacerbation of psoriasis.

8. The right clothes. For patients with psoriasis, it is important to choose loose clothing made from natural fabrics, not to wear woolen clothes on the naked body, to abandon synthetics and any garments that squeeze or rub.

9. Diet. A clear diet for patients with psoriasis does not exist, since the effect of diet on the course of the disease has not been scientifically proven. However, if you have noticed that the use of certain foods causes an aggravation specifically in your child, then, of course, it is better to refuse this food and at the same time visit a gastroenterologist.

Products affect psoriasis indirectly: they can cause inflammatory processes in the digestive tract, and this inflammation already provokes an exacerbation of psoriasis. In general, the child's diet should be healthy, moderate and varied.

10. Medicines. Do not self-medicate or give your child any medication that your doctor has not prescribed. Also, be sure to tell the treating dermatologist about any medications that other specialists have prescribed for your child.
