Here are just a few reasons why phrases like these harm a child's development.

1. There is no constructive criticism in them. This remark goes nowhere. If you think that the child will not be able to cope on his own, and you can help, then explain logically which moment he will not be able to do, and offer your help.

2. You make the child feel helpless. A parent's goal is to teach a child to be strong and independent. At the same time, disbelief in his strength and ability prevents the child from being confident in himself. After all, even if parents consider it a failure, then why should they strive at all?

3. You become hostile to the child. By reproaching the child for failures, scolding not the actions, but the personality, the parents distance themselves from the child and show that they cannot be trusted - they will not understand, appreciate and support.
