Colds and antibiotics: serious consequences

Who is not familiar with the condition when "caught" a cold? Literally everyone is familiar. Yesterday I felt normal, and here you are - snot, sore throat, pain in the head. And what is typical, I don't want to get sick at all. And you must go to work. And then a "bright thought" comes to mind: what if you "hit" with an antibiotic? To immediately and surely get rid of everything?

The thought, of course, is "bright". But what it can lead to is a truly dark matter. Let's figure it out completely: is it possible and necessary to drink antibiotics for a cold? Let not immediately (this is, of course, overkill), but in general.

What is a cold?

Let's start with the definitions. A "cold" is commonly referred to as a number of diseases that are characterized by inflammation of the upper respiratory tract.

Doctors diagnose ARI or ARVI in these cases. And they get sick most often just in the autumn-winter period, when it is chilly and cold outside, immunity it weakens in people, and people themselves gather in rooms, public transport and similar places. It is there that the virus is transmitted.

The common cold has many symptoms that are familiar to everyone since childhood, including:

- runny nose;

- cough;

- red throat;

- high temperature, etc.

Antibiotic treatment

When a person “just” has a cold, for some reason he is in no hurry to see a doctor. What for? The disease is familiar from the diaper, so cure is not a problem. But sometimes we rely exclusively on antibiotics. We are sure that they, as a "panacea", will nullify all viruses.

However, antibiotics should not be taken “just like that”. It is definitely dangerous to "assign" them to yourself. Indeed, along with these drugs, antibodies enter the human body, destroying literally everything in its path - all bacteria in a row, including harmless, and, most importantly, useful ones.

Consequences of uncontrolled antibiotic use

Such consequences can be the most dire. A person does not just kill the "good" bacteria in his body. The matter is much worse, as the surviving "bad" microbes become much stronger. The fight against antibiotics "hardens" them, harmful microorganisms become more resistant. That is why, if you take antibiotics of the same type many times, they soon "stop working."

In fact, antibiotics work, still destroying all living things around (and this is also dangerous), but those against whom the action of the drugs should be directed no longer suffer.

And that's not it. Over time, already "harmless" bacteria living in the body, under negative external influences (antibiotics) turn into harmful ones, and a person gets sick "by himself." And he cannot be cured, at least with the antibiotic that he took before, barely suspecting a cold. The bacteria are already completely immune to this drug.

So it is better not to take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary and prescribed by a doctor. This is fraught with the most negative consequences.
