What if you think you have aged dramatically?

Today we will talk about why, being at home all day now, productivity abruptly disappears, more often it tends to sleep (even when the sun is shining outside the window), libido is reduced like the price of oil, it is hard to think and not digest what you read information.

The topic is very serious, because many will face this now (if not already). Someone worries because of work, someone because of exams or the exam, others are afraid of what will happen tomorrow. The current time for stress is a triumph.

And no, don't think that willpower can help you deal with stress. Of course, it will be right for each of us to learn the following: if something in this life cannot be ruled out, we will have to get used to it. However, this clever phrase is not enough: stress is a physiological process, it has been proven for a long time. And physiology does not obey willpower and suggestion from such banal phrases as "inhale-exhale, calm down", "meditate and it becomes easier", "everything will be fine" etc.

Why, you ask? Because to fight stress, our body spends a valuable and very dangerous hormone in excess - cortisol.

The task of cortisol is to fight stress, it helps the body to survive in stressful situations. Elevated cortisol isn't just in those who work hard in the gym or take an ice shower. Now it has been raised and for those who have lost their jobs due to the virus cannot stay at home all day, and even for those who read only negative news every day.

But we have limited supplies of cortisol. It is produced as much as pregnenolone is produced. And the body excretes pregnenolone as much as we have cholesterol. Useful picture below to help.

At the very top left is cholesterol. It is a precursor to steroid hormones. Specifically, it is metabolized to cortisol

How to replenish your cortisol stores without wasting a lot of it on stress management

1) drink less coffee, it increases cortisol;

2) improve sleep: Sleep at least 6 hours (ideally 8 hours), less sweets before bed, so that the blood sugar level does not drop and the body does not start producing cortisol;

3) produce your own melatonin whenever possibleto sleep normally: go to bed at 11 pm, in pitch darkness (sleep masks to help), as a last resort - take 5 htp tryptophan in the evening 6 hours before bedtime;

4) no matter how tired you are, but make time for physical activityat least run in place for 30 minutes a day;

5) before bed - warm shower; a cold shower - into the furnace, it increases cortisol and is generally not useful, we'll talk about this later.

Remember! Times are not easy now, provoking us to be constantly under the influence of stress. And remote work is not as good as those who only recently switched to such a mode of work imagine it. You will get sick more often with constant stress, but this whole process will have a long and sluggish character. Not a single garlic with ginger will restore your immune system; it's easier to deal with stress.

And don't forget vitamin D3. About him I wrote last year, the material came out large and capacious, many were grateful. Yes, the material was partner, but all theses were supported by scientific research.
