In my recent article about makeup, many women wondered what, in fact, all these words mean: shimmer, highlighter, bronzer concealer, corrector, adjuster, mixer.
Today we will analyze two tools similar in action: an adjuster and a mixer.
Adjuster are concentrated pigments that are mixed with foundation to change their color and other creamy textures. For example, make it lighter or darker, make it cold, or, conversely, add warmth to the color.
Simply put, thanks to the adjuster, you don't have to keep looking for a foundation that suits you. They can change the shade to the one you need.
Mixer - less concentrated pigment than adjuster, based on emulsifiers and solvents. It is also used to change the color of creamy textures. The mixer is said to be easier to use because it can be mixed with both silicone and water based products. But due to the low concentration (compared to adjuster) the mixer needs more, which may change the original texture of the corrected product.
How to use?
On the palette or on the back of your hand, apply the right amount of your foundation, which almost suits you in shade.
Apply the adjuster of the desired color to your hand and mix until you get the desired shade.
Adjusters do not change the quality of your foundation, do not affect its durability and texture, but provided that it is added to the foundation a little.
If you are not a color guru, then it is better not to get too carried away with mixing different colors with the base. It is possible that you will not succeed or it will turn out completely wrong. If you have the time, desire and opportunity, then you, of course, can experiment with who will forbid you.
Initially, adjusters and mixers were used mainly by makeup artists to select the most desired color of the foundation. But now adjasters have settled in our cosmetic bags, because often the desired color of the tonal base it is very difficult to choose, they can also correct the color of an existing product that does not suit your skin. Or make a face correction using a brown solo adjuster instead of a sculptor, or mix with gray adjuster for grayness and coldness of the shade, or mix with foundation to make the color less saturated.
We are all different, our skin color is also different, it is not profitable for makeup artists to have 100 different colors of tonal bases in a case, and even so that they have different densities and properties. And now I do not mean the top famous makeup artists who can easily buy up all the shades of luxury brands, and sometimes the brands themselves give them cosmetics.
Plus, if a make-up artist goes to make-up, it will be more convenient for him to carry two or three foundation and several small adjusters with him.
Adjasters differ in color: white, pink, peach, olive, brown, gray, red, etc. The variety of colors depends on the manufacturer.
In addition to the color, there is another important difference between them - the base. Adjasters are water-based or silicone-based. Silicone - for silicone-based foundations, add water adjuster to water-based products, this rule needs to be remembered.
Mixers can be added to any product, both silicone and water based.
Let's analyze the main colors
White - to give a lighter shade of foundation or concealer.
Brown - to darken the color, suitable for dark-skinned young ladies. It can also be used instead of a sculptor, because it often has a nice brown color that does not go red and not cold.
Grey - to muffle the olive undertone, makes the color colder.
Olive - corrects foundations with a pink or peach tone.
Pink - removes the yellow tint in the color, corrects yellow bruises under the eyes.
Peach - makes the foundation lighter and warmer. Helps in correcting blue wreaths for example on eyelids or dark spots under the eyes.
An adjuster and mixer is an optional cosmetic that must be purchased. I recommend getting it if you are really having trouble choosing a foundation color. Or you bought a foundation, but lost a little with the color, throwing it out is not an option, especially if it costs not 200 rubles, you can save it with an adjuster. But sometimes you can also replace it, for example, add concealer a tone lighter and mix.
Well, buying an adjuster because it's fashionable and make-up artists use in their videos is also optional. I have a white adjuster because I have a very light skin color and sometimes the lightest shades of foundations are very dark for me. Do I use it every time? No! To be honest, I'm too lazy, and I constantly forget about him.
