I quite often order cosmetics and all sorts of little things in online stores and marketplaces. Most often these are Rive Gauche, Letual, Golden Apple, Beru, Ozone. At the same time, I stopped choosing delivery by courier, if possible. It would seem that this is the ideal option - sit at home and wait, they will bring everything themselves. No extra movements needed. But in my life everything turns out completely differently.
When a courier is good
Courier delivery was very helpful during the period of self-isolation. And although in my city it was extended until August 9 (Saratov), few people observe it. And if in March and April we honestly sat at home and made very rare excursions to the store and the pharmacy, now we live almost an ordinary life with some caution. Many companies made contactless delivery in the spring, although not all of them did it, but that's another story. Overall it was comfortable.
I like it when groceries or food orders are brought home, usually it happens quickly - I ordered, they told you when the courier would be there and you were waiting for yourself. It is also good to receive heavy deliveries, here the courier's help is invaluable. On Beru, for example, I sometimes order chemicals for the house: washing powder 3-5 kg each, air conditioner and so on. In these cases, the courier helps out.
In other cases, I try to do without courier delivery, if it is possible to pick up from a pickup point or postamat. Moreover, in my area there are several different pickpoints within walking distance.
I respect the people who help me receive my order with maximum comfort. By the way, I'm very interested if you leave a tip to the couriers? We can tip the pizza delivery man, but for some reason I never left anything to those who bring me my cosmetic orders.
Why I don't like courier delivery
Firstly, not all courier services notify in advance what half of the day they will be. Often they just call in an hour or half an hour. Sometimes the courier only gets in touch in the late afternoon, and you sit and wait for him all day. It's good if you have somewhere to call and clarify. And if not? It turns out that you need set aside a day to wait. When planning, on the day of delivery, I try not to make plans outside the home, so that I can calmly wait for the courier, knowing that you are not expected anywhere.
Secondly, sometimes delivery is postponed and this can confuse plans. This is inconvenient because you have to adjust. I figured that on the 25th I would definitely stay at home, scattering my cases on the 26th and 27th, and the delivery was postponed. You have to rebuild the schedule and it's good when you don't let other people down.
The parcel is in the checkpoint for several days and you can go for it at any free time, even drop in between cases. It's more convenient for me. I cannot say that I am a super-busy person outside the home, my main work activity takes place at home, but my omen is true - if you wait for a courier, urgent matters appear.
