Essens perfumery: is it fake, what scents are similar, is it worth buying

As an aromastilist, I often consider perfume topics on my channel, make collections of fragrances, share my reviews and subtleties. Let's talk about perfume today Essens, I was lucky enough to take their working folder with probes and test everything well.

Essens is a Czech company, the perfume essence for it is produced at the popular Seluz factory (Turkey). Turkey, by the way, is one of the largest suppliers of ingredients; raw materials are brought to Turkish factories, which are processed and become essence.

Is Essens perfumery fake?

Turkey is famous not only for Turkish counterfeits, and it is Essens that complies with GMP standards, undergoes a strict certification framework. That is, their perfumery is not a fake in the literal sense, all the standards necessary for our safety are observed.

Essens are equivalent perfumes, there are many of them on the market (Armelle, Lambre, N&G, etc.), which began to appear actively around 2005 after a strong upward leap in the euro. There is no need to pay big money for the design and development of perfume, advertising of the fragrance, so the prices are significantly lower. The pyramid is as close as possible to the original, usually some ingredients are added or removed, although the sites usually prescribe the same pyramid. But we already know (and who is not subscribed to me, they will now find out) that not all notes are indicated in the pyramid, this is more the work of marketers than the full composition of the fragrance.

Essens bottles look like this

Sites indicate that they are buying a formula from a brand or license, which sounds implausible to me, to be honest. But the fragrances are actually as close and similar as possible, but not one to one.

What flavors Essens similar to the original and which are not

Of course, I have not met 100% hitting the bull's-eye, well, in general, this is not surprising. The original versions have a different opening, first these are the top notes, then the middle ones, and at the very end of the base. Of course, the fragrance is a very voluminous concept, but a linear one, in it the notes are revealed not by the minute, the notes of the heart or base can sound from the start, but in general the essence is that the scent changes over time.

In Essens perfumes, the aromas are flatter, there are no such overflows to them, they immediately go into heart or base notes and hold on. At the same time, the fragrance itself is similar, it is simply served differently, and there are very good equivalents. Essens has a good oil concentration of 20%.

I had 3 full-size originals and several original samples on hand at home. Conducted an experiment by applying scents to different hands at the same time. Black opium in the original is revealed in stages, it is very bright, sweet. The equivalent of Black opium Essens W 142 would seem similar, but when compared in detail, it has less sweetness, intensity, and monotonous opening. The pyramid is different, there is no coffee equivalent and slightly different notes.

Essens W 141 the equivalent of Lancome La Vie est Belle coincides in the indicated pyramid with the original, in general it is similar, but there is more bitterness, less intensity, the original requires microdoses to use, it is louder and more assertive.

Cerruti 1881 at first glance seemed similar, but more rude, and when compared in detail, the original is gone far ahead, it is so multifaceted, beautiful, Essens W 101 is already the last base notes of the original, the finish aroma. But its beauty is all in the game and in the first hours.

I will write the fragrances that, in my opinion, were the most distant from the original: Chanel was not at all impressed - Essens 124 Chanel Chance, Essens 117 Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. Essens 156 Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche, Essens 156 Escentric Molecules Molecule 2.

I do not consider Essens perfumes for myself, but I fully admit that it is difficult for a woman with a salary of 12,000 rubles to buy a bottle for 5,000 rubles, so I don’t presume to judge. The plus is that the products are certified and safe, and then it's your personal choice.
