In 2006, in a format unexpected for many, a program with the title was launched on the main Russian channel "Malakhov +". The surname is not new for the audience, but the host is the opposite. This was the first calculation: to attract the audience of the famous Andrei Malakhov to the unknown Gennady Petrovich Malakhov.
A fresh, fit man cheerfully taught his viewers to apply folk methods in the treatment of all kinds of diseases: from corns to blood clots. The methods were varied, from physical exercises and hardening to unconventional: it was precisely because of his addiction to treating with urine that many spectators remembered him.
Surprisingly, a program of this format was allowed on Channel One - it quickly gained huge ratings, despite the fact that it was released in the morning. Uncomplicated style, simple manners, light humor and penny recipes: this is the secret of Malakhov Sr.'s success. The viewer fell in love with the naturopath so much and trusted him that no one even had a question - does Gennady Petrovich have a medical education?
Malakhov and medicine
As it turned out, no, the presenter had no medical diploma either about secondary special or higher education, and by education he is an electrician.
So why was the program entrusted to lead him? Gennady Petrovich was really known already at the time of the start of the transfer, but in narrow circles: his books on fasting, herbal treatments, and other natural remedies have been popular in certain circles.
He began to be treated with folk recipes after his own illness: a strong tonsillitis literally tormented him, and did not give in to traditional means. After he cured a sore throat with the help of infusions and cleansing the body, Malakhov became interested in alternative methods of treatment.
Where is Gennady Malakhov now?
The program "Malakhov +" was broadcast for several years, together with Gennady Petrovich it was hosted at different times by Angelina Vovk, Elena Proklova and Andrey Malakhov. But after a couple of years, viewers got tired of the format, ratings dropped, the program was closed in 2010, and for its time they put on a medical program with a traditional, “pill” approach from Elena Malysheva.
Malakhov began to be invited to other channels, to similar projects, but he refused and returned to his hometown of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, located in the Rostov region. With the money he earned, he built a cottage, in which they still live together with his wife and receive their children and grandchildren.
Malakhov did not give up sharing his practice of folk healing: he still publishes books, and also maintains his own YouTube channel, in which he shares the secrets of yoga.
