This week I was asked about physical education for children. Can I practice during stuffy weather? It took me a while to realize that in Krasnodar, for example, in the first school days it was under 35 degrees of heat.
There are indeed many limitations in this business. It is not always possible for schoolchildren to run outside.
Heat Index
The Americans have special tables that the military began to use fifty years ago. There wind speed, temperature, humidity and sunlight are taken into account at the same time. Depending on the combination of these factors, people outside will overheat faster or slower.
Well, that is, if in a thirty-degree heat the sun also spits at you, then it is worse than if the sun was covered by a cloud. Or if the wind blows on you, it cools you down. Or if it's humid outside, sweat won't evaporate and you'll overheat faster.
Humans suffer the most from high humidity.
Usually tables with temperature and humidity are used for schools. They calculate the so-called "heat index".
Caution
You can look at the diagram. In the lemon-yellow sector, there will be a Caution index. Children are allowed to do whatever they want on the street, but they are being watched. If someone is sick or has a headache, then such a student should be stopped and driven into the shade.
Very careful
This is the yellow sector in the diagram. Physical education is better to postpone to a cool time. It is necessary to take more frequent breaks and water the children more often. Children aged 9-12 years are given 100-250 milliliters of water every 20 minutes, older adolescents - up to one or one and a half liters per hour. And this is also taking into account the fact that they drank normally before physical education.
If the water is sweetened or there is a little salt there, then the children drink such a thing almost twice as much. They like this shit.
Dangerous
This is the orange area in the diagram. Children with chronic diseases or after diarrhea and vomiting are not allowed to exercise.
Children who have not been acclimatized should not run in the heat. Acclimatization - it is a week or two before school to move under the same sun. For older children, three days would be enough, and babies sometimes need 14 days to acclimatize.
Very dangerous
This is the red area in the diagram. Physical education is canceled.
It will get colder now, and it will be difficult to overheat at school. But people have just started to ride to the resorts. There is about the same story. Learn to restrain children in the heat and drink them properly.
Have you tried calculating from a diagram?
