Can. This is rare, but it happens. Portuguese doctors recently published the story of an elderly man who suffered from hepatitis C virus and was later diagnosed with liver cancer. This cancer was excised along with part of the liver.
After 4 months, this grandfather was again found with many tumors in the liver. Grandpa freaked out, gave up chemotherapy and stayed on appetite stimulants prescribed by the doctor and some soursop supplements that he got himself. When he was examined six months later, the tumors in the liver significantly decreased, and after five years the cancer disappeared.
This is rare, but it happens. The first time about a similar miracle was told in 1956. It is said that this may be in about 0.4% of patients. The blood supply to the tumor may be disrupted, or the immune system may suddenly wake up.
In the case of the Portuguese grandfather, something stimulated the immune system. Maybe appetite medicine, or maybe a herbal supplement.
Some scientists write that they observed the disappearance of liver cancer in people with viral hepatitis. It is believed that the immunity that fights viruses in the liver can strangle the tumor in the same way.
Similar miracles have been seen before in the treatment of melanoma, rectal cancer and prostate cancer.
Some believe that these soursop supplements have been shown to be toxic to liver cancer.
It is also said that the hormonal drug to stimulate the appetite could also suppress the tumor, because such liver cancer can be sensitive to hormones.
The same liver cancer usually occurs in men. Women of childbearing age with high levels of estrogen in the blood rarely get this thing.
Interestingly, men in liver cells and in the tumor itself also have receptors for estrogen. But some men have few of these receptors. And these supermen have liver cancer more often.
In theory, there is a way to test those very estrogen receptors, but it is difficult and terribly expensive. This is mainly practiced by scientists in their research. And even they haven't figured it out yet. So in the first laboratory that comes across, such an analysis will not be done.
Do you think you already need to run for a soursop or unusual medicines?
There is no need. This case will be studied for a long time, and it is better to treat neoplasms only as prescribed by an oncologist.
