Ever since they learned about blood groups, people have been trying to find advantages or disadvantages in their own group. Sometimes it makes sense.

In 1977, scientists calculated that people with the first blood group are more likely to get cholera, and with the second, much less often.

In 1993, they learned that Helicobacter adheres better to the gastric mucosa if a person has the first group.

The most interesting fact was discovered in 2003. It turned out that the norovirus, which causes Americans' favorite stomach flu, attaches itself to literally the same signaling molecules that determine our blood type. He uses them as receptors.

At the same time, the epidemic of that first coronavirus was raging in Asia, and many wanted to get at least some clue.

Chinese scientists examined medical workers who were in contact with the coronavirus, and found that people with the first blood group became infected less often.

This year, the Chinese also quickly counted, and it turned out that yes, with the first group they get sick less often, and with the second - more often. The quality of the study was not very good, but we decided that it would be fine at first.

After that, scientists around the world rushed to check and compare. It turned out that we have genes that predispose to infection with covid. And they are in the area of our hereditary information, which also controls the blood group.

It seems that if people with the second blood group get sick with covid, then they have a 45% higher risk of a severe course of the disease. But for those who had the first group - 35% lower.

Then they began to say that there is no simple connection with the blood group, but people with a positive Rh and the first group blood less often found a positive smear on covid, but in Rh-positive people with the third blood group - on the contrary.

That is, some complex medical statistics have already been used. They began to compare everything to everything, but it was not possible to prove that the blood type affects the risk of getting into intensive care with covid.

In the end, scientists decided not to fool people and honestly admitted that there is no reason to diagnose covid or make a prediction based on blood groups.
