Most often, holes in the stomach are obtained from Helicobacter pylori infection and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. There are still other reasons, but they occur in no more than 10% of cases. Let's take a look at some of them.
Paracetamol
Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic effects. It is not classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It usually does not irritate the stomach. This is its useful properties.
Paracetamol begins to harm the stomach if taken in a dose above 2 g per day, and even if it is mixed with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in such a dose. Hello to ibuprofen / paracetamol combination pills! Combination pills are making their way onto the market, but in fact, mixing these drugs is wrong.
Bisphosphonates
These are fancy, expensive drugs that keep calcium in the bones. Bisphosphonates are prescribed for osteoporosis and even bone metastases.
If you read the instructions for bisphosphonates, then they write there that they need to be drunk well and not lie down horizontally after taking. Because if the medicine does not reach the stomach, but remains in the esophagus, then an ulcer may appear there. When mixed with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the risk of stomach damage increases markedly.
The side effects are well-known, the drugs are gorgeous, so no one will refuse bisphosphonates. Follow the admission rules and everything will be fine.
Glucocorticoids
People eat tons of prednisone for different reasons. Earlier in the hospital he was forced to drink milk. Together with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, these hormones damage the stomach more easily. But when they tried to prove that glucocorticoids in themselves lead to stomach ulcers, nothing happened. They seem to be harmful, but they are not so poisonous that it was too noticeable.
Veroshpiron
Suddenly. A weak diuretic that conserves potassium. At the same time, it three times increases the risk of a bleeding ulcer in the stomach. It is suspected that veroshpiron is not something that burns ulcers, it rather interferes with the healing of existing minor lesions of the gastric mucosa.
Herpes
Have you seen herpes blisters on your lips? It rarely causes stomach ulcers.
Foreign bodies
Batteries and magnets. Have you tried licking the batteries? They pinch their tongue. There are ulcers in the stomach from small batteries that look like pills. This is one of the most dangerous things that children can swallow.
What do you think about magnets? How can they harm? It's even more cunning here. They are also dangerous, but not like batteries, and this is not connected with electricity.
Magnets pinch, but do not pinch
The stomach normally has folds. In this sense, the inside of the stomach is like a Shar Pei dog. If you read your conclusion after gastroscopy, then it was written there that some folds are straightened with air. This is what they are.
If there is a magnet on both sides of such a fold, then the magnets will be attracted to each other and squeeze the fold like a clothespin. It is not too strong, but over time, a bedsore forms on the fold from constant pressure. A pressure sore is an ulcer.
Various tumors
There are many more different tumors in and around the stomach that produce hormones and other biologically active substances. They cause the stomach to secrete a lot of acid. From this, an ulcer can form.
Ischemia
Ischemia is insufficient blood supply. We have already discussed intestinal atherosclerosis, which leads to ischemia. This is rare in the stomach, but it can be.
Roughly the same story happens in the highlands, when a stomach ulcer develops from hypothermia and lack of oxygen. Immediately it seemed that treating the stomach with a large amount of ice cream would not bring to good.
Stress
This is not the stress when a person gets drunk and his acidity increases. This stress occurs in intensive care, when a person almost died. The body directed all its forces to maintain life in the heart and brain, and the stomach got little blood. This is how stress ulcers appear. This is a separate big topic.
