What is the harm from aluminum foil for baking

Aluminum is the third most abundant chemical element on our planet. After oxygen and silicon. The clay under our feet is actually a compound of aluminum. It is clear that all our food and even our blood contains aluminum.

Temperature

Acidity

In a highly alkaline and highly acidic environment, aluminum is better washed out of the foil. Therefore, it is better not to wrap meat in a sour marinade in foil again.

Salt

The more salt, the better the aluminum falls out of the foil. It's like sea water that eats away at the hull of a boat. The salt in the meat also eats away at the protective oxide film on the foil, and the aluminum is absorbed into the product.

Additives

There is evidence that aluminum is better absorbed from food along with various ions such as iron or zinc, but personally I do not understand what the practical benefit is.

I have only one supplement in my mind, which we closely follow in medicine. This is citrate.

We have many different oral citrate products here, and we know for sure that in the presence of this citrate, aluminum is very well absorbed into the blood. Therefore, we do not mix products containing aluminum and citrate.

With regard to cooking, I immediately imagine fish baked in foil with lemon wedges. I do it myself. Maybe not worth it.

Who Should Worry

Well, if not everything is in order with the kidneys, then it is better to forget about the aluminum foil. It is also better not to indulge small children with sweets baked in foil. The rest need not bother.
