Hello! I have been a doctor for 21 years. My name is Georgy Olegovich Sapego. In this article I will talk about viral myositis.
A viral infection often hurts your muscles. This is called myalgia or myositis. There are several mechanisms for this pain.
Virus can get into muscle and cause inflammation there. In fact, it is difficult to catch the virus directly in the muscle, so this fact has not been confirmed for sure.
Miscellaneous inflammatory muckthat is secreted during an infection can damage muscles and cause pain. Remember the story of how regular fat releases inflammatory substances? And this is our own fat. Now imagine how much muck is released during a viral infection. Such filth literally destroys muscles.
Immunity. If our body really does not like a particular virus, then the body can start such a war that together with the virus, muscles will fall under the hot hand of immunity.
How does viral myositis manifest?
First there will be some cold or diarrhea. That is, the virus will attack the body and begin to dominate various organs and tissues.
Many victims recall that at the very beginning of the cold, they worked hard physically. That is, they used their muscles.
Then the muscles will ache. More often back and legs hurt.
The pain usually goes away on its own.
If everything gets worse, your arms, sides, and even your abdominal muscles will hurt. Muscle weakness will appear.
Muscles may feel sore to the touch and may become swollen in children.
Chronic myositis
Sometimes myositis lasts indefinitely. This happens with HIV infection, viral hepatitis C and some other viral infections.
Children's myositis
Sometimes children with flu have such myositis that they can't even walk. Fortunately, this myositis is benign and goes away within a day or two after the temperature subsides.
Most often, these myositis do not require treatment.
