Hello! I have been a doctor for 21 years. My name is Georgy Olegovich Sapego. In this article, I’ll talk about how you are fooled by stories about beneficial gallstones.
I will quote from a connoisseur of stones and immediately explain what is wrong with her or with him.
The author of this idea believes that a person with stones in the gallbladder will suffer from gallbladder colic and therefore will take up the mind. It will be operated only if the stone reaches a size of 3 cm.
In fact, if a person has symptoms like biliary colic, they are operated on and not expected.
In addition, the gallbladder is removed even without any symptoms if the stone is large. Because cancer grows in such a gallbladder (we have already discussed the risk of cancer in the topic about gallbladder polyps).
So if you grow a stone up to two centimeters, then the risk of developing cancer will be 2.4 times higher than with small stones. If you wait for a 3 cm stone, your risk of cancer will be 10 times higher.
With stones in the gallbladder, jumping, tilting and lifting weights are contraindicated.
In fact, exercise is good for gallstones. They recommend what trains the heart: running, tennis and so on. Nobody forbids jumping, and lifting weights is not forbidden either.
If the stone doesn't hurt, then it doesn't hurt. If the stone has moved, then the load is not limited, but the gallbladder is removed.
You need to drink 2 liters of water per day. It is good for the gallbladder and is especially beneficial for diabetes.
Gallstones are not kidney stones. They are not washed out with water. There, proper nutrition, normal weight and physical activity are more important.
About diabetes mellitus is not entirely clear. For him, the same is useful as for the gallbladder, but not water.
When blood sugar levels are high, diabetics become thirsty and drink a lot. Maybe this idea bridged the author? I do not know…
If antispasmodics are used to treat biliary colic, they reduce muscle spasms. It is good for the muscles.
In fact, what relieves spasm of smooth muscle in the biliary tract does not work on skeletal muscles like a sore neck or back.
There are such side effects from these antispasmodics that they will be worse than biliary colic.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that treat biliary colic can help relieve headaches and joint pain. This is an added benefit.
In fact, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) help relieve headaches, but they cannot cure them.
If you often take anti-inflammatory drugs for headaches, then your head hurts only from these drugs. This is called an abuse headache.
Have you read my article about a headache at the doctor's? There the doctor drank coffee at work, and drank juice at home on weekends. So he got a migraine every Saturday just because he didn't get another dose of pain relieving caffeine. There is a similar story with anti-inflammatory pills.
Joints are also not so simple. We discussed this in an article about how people crumble from pain medications. You can read the link below.
If you have to drink antibiotics with cholecystitis, then they may cause diarrhea, and this is useful for constipation.
In fact, antibiotics have not really helped anyone with constipation. Everyone just complains, and no one is ever happy with the side effects. That's why they are side effects. It's like a stupid recommendation to drink water from a river to treat constipation. Have you met such a game?
If you find similar dubious stories, then write in the comments under any article. Let's analyze in all the details.
